Kara came to Indianapolis in 2006 from Elkhart, Indiana. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in higher education. Prior to joining the Honors College in 2015, she advised at IUPUC (now IU Columbus), Penn State, and the University of South Carolina. Kara has special interests in first-generation college students, college teaching, and honors education. She is a member of several campus committees and is the staff advisor for Academics for Civic Engagement (ACE). She loves living in Indianapolis with her two dogs and backyard chickens. Kara serves as the honors advisor for Bepko Scholars and Fellows and Chancellor Scholars (last names Q–Z).
