Academics

Create an academic plan that's as ambitious as you are

Honors courses are smaller, more challenging, and designed specifically for high-achievers like you. You'll work with a dedicated honors advisor to put together a plan of study that includes honors courses and honors experiences, such as research, study abroad, service learning, and experiential learning.

As an IU Indianapolis Honors College scholar, you can pursue an honors minor to enhance and complement your major. You can also earn honors credit in any course by working with professors to create an honors contract.

The IUPUI Honors College staff cares deeply about my success and desires for me to become the best student I can be.

Choose from three honors minors

The IU Indianapolis Honors College offers three 15-credit minors that can enhance and complement any major. The Honors Minor in Leadership provides exposure to current theory and practice designed to prepare students for future leadership roles. The Honors Minor in Public Health highlights the social, economic, behavioral, and environmental influences that improve the health of entire populations. The Honors Minor in Philanthropic Studies explores the cultural traditions of voluntary action through a variety of disciplinary perspectives and course options.

Earn honors credit in any course

Honors contracts allow you to earn honors credit in a regular course. You'll work with the professor to create an honors project that must be completed in addition to the regular coursework. Honors credit will appear on your transcript, and the grade you receive for the honors project will be factored into your grade for the entire course. A grade of B or better is required to receive honors credit.
