Samantha chose to attend IU Indianapolis because of its small, urban campus and amazing psychology and neuroscience programs. Being a Bepko Scholar to Samantha is a huge honor because it means that she has the privilege of being in a community of driven students who love to give back. Samantha is very passionate about spreading awareness for mental illness and suicide. As a psychology and neuroscience major, she cares deeply about those struggling with their mental health and wants to dedicate her life to helping others live to their fullest lives despite mental illness. In high school, Samantha was the Community Service Coordinator for National Honor Society. She helped plan and organize community service events such as “Safe Trick-or-Treat” and crafts at a local senior center. She also volunteered at her local food shelter by loading food into cars, organizing food bags, and stocking the food shelter. Being able to help those with food insecurity was an inspiring and heartwarming experience. Additionally, Samantha was apart of the Rotary Interact Club. In this club, she held many fundraisers for her local county home, often selling donuts during finals or holding a dodgeball tournament. In her free time, Samantha loves working out and watching movies. She is a licensed cosmetologist and works in a hair salon. After college, she hopes to one day earn a PhD in Clinical Psychology.
