Maggie chose to attend IU Indianapolis because she loved the environment of the campus and was impressed by the amount of research opportunities for students. To Maggie, being a Bepko Scholar means doing good when there is no reward, being a role model for those around you, and serving the community in every way possible. In college, she hopes to assist local charities through volunteerism and hopes to work towards improving the mental health of youth throughout the community. In high school, Maggie volunteered at Snider’s Biomedical Charity Council where she helped raise thousands of dollars for Matthew 25, an organization that provides affordable dental and health care to those in need. In her free time, Maggie enjoys reading and her favorite book is When the Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi.
