Major: Sustainability Practice and Policy
Hometown: Brownsburg, IN
HighSchool: Brownsburg High School
Daphne chose to attend IU Indianapolis not only because she loves the downtown city environment, but also because it is one of the only schools she found and liked with a major option for environmental policy. To Daphne, being a Bepko Scholar means “going above and beyond to create and surpass goals for myself and flourish into the best version of myself I can be.” As a Bepko Scholar, Daphne hopes to bring her passions into everything she does on campus, from volunteer work to leadership opportunities, to help make a brighter environment on campus and work toward achieving social justice within the community. Throughout high school, she participated in many different community service sectors. She volunteered in elementary schools, did face painting for local events, volunteered at her local farmer’s market, and participated in her high school’s Unified Track and Field team and assisted the athletes who needed extra help. She also helped arrange various clothing and food drives as President of her school’s women’s rights club. Spreading herself across different fields in this way allowed her to meet new people and discover what she is most passionate about. In her free time, she likes to do all forms of art such as pottery, jewelry making, and sewing. After college, she hopes to enter the field of environmental policy in either management or legislative reform.
