Abigail chose IUPUI (now IU Indianapolis) because of its unique undergraduate opportunities, proximity to major hospitals, and the welcoming environment of the Honors College. Abigail believes that being a Bepko Scholar means "to be a leader inside and outside the classroom." She is most passionate about the issue of substance abuse and how it affects so many lives, including children and newborns. In high school, she volunteered at a local hospital in the Emergency Department and NICU. She also helped organize and volunteer at different events throughout her community with her school's Interact Club. In the FFA, she organized a collection of hats and gloves for a local elementary school that had many students who walked to school in the winter. After graduation, she hopes to become a physician and make an impact in her community by providing health care to those in need.
