Paarth decided to come to IUPUI (now IU Indianapolis) for a variety of reasons, including the prestigious business program and the university’s commitment to diversity. Being a Bepko Scholar means that he will carry the responsibility to positively impact the people around him. He describes himself as being passionate about food insecurity and educational equity. In India, he organized a large-scale community service project that provides basic necessities like water, sanitation, electricity, and education to villages. He also ran an NGO that impacted more than 1,500 families struggling with cancer. His NGO has been recognized by the Municipal Corporation of Mumbai, and he holds a Joint Guinness World Record for the highest number of solar lamps lit at one time. Paarth hopes to lead by example and inspire others to help their local communities during his time at IU Indianapolis.
