Nargiz chose IU Indianapolis because she has always dreamed of being a Hoosier, not only because of her family legacy but also because attending IU has been a longtime personal goal. To her, being a Bepko Scholar means being surrounded by like-minded individuals who prioritize supporting their communities and those around them.
One social issue Nargiz is passionate about is girls’ educational rights. She believes everyone deserves to have their own voice and the opportunity to be heard. As a Bepko Scholar, she hopes to study both in Indiana and internationally during summer breaks to make a meaningful impact on education. In high school, she completed a passion project called “Teach Our Girls,” which focused on teaching information technology skills, providing English instruction to girls, and purchasing computers for people in her community. She also helped organize the Woman Bazaar in her city and successfully promote and support women in business.
Nargiz is inspired by her family and by a quote from Ayn Rand that says, “The question isn't who's going to let me. It's who's going to stop me.”
