Fatima chose IU Indianapolis because of the opportunities the university provides, as well as its urban environment. To her, being a Bepko Scholar means, “Being a leader in every sense of the word, giving back to the community, and learning from the experiences that allow for growth.”
A social issue Fatima is passionate about raising awareness for is mental health, particularly the shortage of health resources and limited accessibility in some areas of the world. In high school, she participated in the Carmel Dance Marathon, which raised money for pediatric oncology research at Riley Children’s Hospital. It was a fulfilling experience as it supported children affected by cancer and their families.
In her free time, Fatima enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking and trying new foods, writing, crafting, and traveling. Her parents have been her biggest supporters and motivators in pursuing her future aspirations. After college, she hopes to attend graduate school.
